Symptoms: no faults expected early, but the 1.8 hybrid still uses cooled EGR that can carbon up over very high mileage

Power sliding door faults
Symptoms: power door won't open or close from the button, stops or reverses partway, or works only intermittently; often just one side

What to do: The main thing to watch on the 1.8 hybrid: the cooled-EGR passages slowly clog with hard carbon, which if ignored can cause misfires and, in bad cases, contribute to head-gasket trouble. Have the EGR cooler, valve and intake passages cleaned as preventive maintenance and deal with any misfire or coolant loss promptly.

Hybrid 12V and HV battery ageing
Symptoms: the small 12V battery weakens with age (no-start, electrical quirks); the high-voltage battery slowly loses capacity, and a clogged HV-battery cooling-fan filter can let it run warm
What to do: Keep the 12V battery healthy — a weak one causes many odd faults on a hybrid. Periodically clean the HV-battery cooling intake/filter (near the rear seats) so the pack stays cool, and budget for eventual HV-battery service on very high-mileage cars.
