About Brimly

Hi, I'm Michil — an indie developer with 5+ years of experience as an iOS engineer at large companies. I started with Objective-C, back when Swift was only just emerging.

What drew me to this path?

I wanted my work to reach as many people as possible — for something I build to matter to a person who might be anywhere in the world. That idea inspired me, and it still does.

Why I built Brimly

Because I'm a passionate car owner and wanted an app that would be useful to me first. The app I had been using to track my car had stopped getting updates, crashed now and then, and lacked the features I wanted to see.

How I built Brimly

Thanks to modern agentic AI development tools, it took relatively little time — about a month. Yes, AI agents have become remarkably capable, especially compared with just 2–3 years ago, but not capable enough to produce a quality product from an idea and a couple of prompts. That's where my background as an iOS developer helps a lot: building good software still takes real engineering skill and knowledge.

I keep working on Brimly — there is still plenty to improve.
